What's an 8 Track Tape???

Work has been super stressful. We are preparing to move, plus trying to keep up with our regular work. Moving means cleaning out supply closets and desk drawers. In the supply closet we found my supervisor's case of 8 track tapes. And lucky for us, she even had her old 8 track tape player! Boy were we in for a treat! That little case held some classics! Ann Murray, Tom Jones, The Oak Ridge Boys, Barry Manilow, Englebert Humperdinck, Bing Crosby, Jim Croce, Freddy Fender, The Charlie Daniels Band (this tape was from before The Devil Went Down to Georgia). Work suddenly turned into a party! Phyllis and Dayleann were singing their hearts out as I sat back and watched/listened in horror! Wild times at the USDA! Who knew that little case of classic treasures would provide us with the much comic relief we so desperately needed!!! And it also made me thankful that Ashlee and I will have our own office and we can listen to our own music when we get to the new building! Or as Phyllis said, we can listen to our "rap crap" and "meat dress wearing Lady Gaga"!

This my friends, is an 8 track tape player! Yes, we had a few younger people in the building who had never seen an 8 track tape or 8 track tape player. They didn't know how it worked. I wasn't one of the young ones. We used to listen to my dad's 8 track player when we were kids. Much to Mom's dismay, we found his Cheech and Chong tape. We pretty much had it memorized before she knew we were listening to it!

The tape player ate Barry Manilow. No Copacabana or Mandy for us today!

Little case of treasures! Well treasures for some, torture for others! ;)

This was Ashlee a few days ago. I told you we were cleaning out desks. My boss found these sunglasses in her desk. She has no idea when she got them. I would say they are more than a few years old! Ashlee decorated them with her little birds she keeps on her desk. Dayleann has about 30 years worth of stuff in her desk. We can't wait to see what other treasures she finds in there!

  1. Thanks for the laughs yesterday. Poor Poor Barry Manilow...Obviously the 8 track player did not like the live version of his music. Phyllis and I were going to dance to Lola :( And she's got some moves that only come out when the Oak Ridge Brothers are playing.
