Memorial Day

Today is Memorial Day. Please take time out of your day to reflect and remember what this day is about. Whether it's just simply saying a prayer for our men and women in uniform, past, present and future. Whether it's visiting your local cemetery to pay your respects to those who served and are no longer with us.Or if you get the opportunity, thank a Veteran personally. However you choose to do it, just remember it is because of these brave men and women, that you get to enjoy your BBQ's, beach time, lake time, etc. today.

This has been posted a few times and I have intended to make a new one, but I haven't been able to find a song quite as fitting as this one.Special thanks goes out to my grandfathers, dad, brothers, cousins, friends! It is a privilege to have been brought up in a family with such strong a military background!

Goodbye Elementary School! Hello Junior High!

My baby, my youngest child graduated from sixth grade last night. My gosh, time has flown by! He made out like a bandit when it came to the awards. He ended up with 8 total, including the President's award for academic excellence, computer award, academic achievement award (for being on the honor roll all four semesters), artist of the year (only 2 were given out) and a few others. I hate to brag, but I was one proud mama! And it is starting to make sense as to why he is constantly kicking my ass in Words With Friends and Drawsomething! I think he may be smarter than me and certainly draws better than me! I thought I might be sad to watch him move on, but if you know my Dusty, he has seemed grown since he was like 2! I swear that kid was never a baby. He came out of the womb talking! And hasn't stopped since. Plus, he is now taller than me. Hard to think of him as a baby when he is taller than me! Way to go D! Dad and I are sooo proud of you!

Displaying some awards
Fist pic we took with him was blurry, so Mr. Anti-Camera has a fine look for the camera!
With Grandpa and Grandma
With Memom
Can't believe we are doing this already!
Love him!
One more- As I said, I was proud!

Junior Prom 2012

On May 5th, my baby girl attended her junior prom. And while my breath was taken away at how beautiful she looked and it was so much fun helping her pick out her dress and helping her get ready, I felt a little bit of sadness. Sadness knowing that she is almost finished with her junior year. Sadness knowing that this time next year, she will be getting ready to graduate and head off to college. Sadness just knowing that we only have a little over a year to have her living in our house. I'm not ready for that. I'm not ready to hand my little girl off to this big old world! So, I am going to enjoy this next year. Enjoy every second of it. And stock up on a whole lot of kleenex, because I'm gonna need it!

Stunning!

This is my girl on any given day-always happy and always dancing!
After prom had a military theme this year. Which gave Bry the honor of wearing Uncle Trevor's Marine Corps jacket. I am sure he was looking down from heaven with lots of smiles that night. He loved this girl!

Dancing For Money???

So, remember my friend Stacy that I visited with a few months ago? This was her Facebook status today-

5th grade field day with Noah, lots of good dance music playing and Noah asks "When you and Ms Heather used to go dancing all the time when you were young, did you get paid for that? Did other people watching give you money?" Me- "No sir, that's called stripping and Ms Heather and I did a lot of dancing in our time but didn't dance like THAT." Noah- "Ok, I always kinda wondered about that.." The awesome questions you get asked as a Mom!!

I literally about peed down my leg when I read this! Now, I have to tell you, there was lots of booty shakin, and hair whipping around and hands up in the air, but we never had an audience and money was never involved!I believe we should have been paid for our awesomeness alone! But, we had fun, sooo much fun! Memories that will last a lifetime. I do feel kind bad that Noah might have been wondering if his mama and her friend were dancing for money, though....

And with that, I leave you with a few our favorite booty shakin songs!

Now I am going to bed. It is after all 9:53pm on a Friday night, you know!
